Bianca Andreescu's bid to reach the US Open main draw will resume Friday after rain halted her final qualifying match against Slovenia's Tamara Zidansek. The Mississauga native was ahead 2-0 when play was suspended, leaving her one set away from advancing to the tournament proper.
When will Andreescu play her rescheduled match?
Andreescu's match against Zidansek is set for Friday. The first round of the US Open begins Sunday, giving her a narrow window to complete qualifying and prepare for main-draw action.
Did other Canadians advance in qualifying?
Liam Draxl of Newmarket also had his final qualifying match postponed to Friday against Australia's Tristan Schoolkate. Fellow Canadian Carson Branstine was eliminated earlier in the day, losing 2-6, 6-2, 6-2 to American Robin Montgomery, which cost her a place in the main draw.
Who else represents Canada in the main draw?
Félix Auger-Aliassime of Montreal and Denis Shapovalov of Richmond Hill are already seeded on the men's side, while Leylah Fernandez of Laval qualified for the women's draw. The tournament's opening round is scheduled to begin Sunday.
