The match remained closely contested, with lead changes occurring frequently. In the second set, Andreescu found herself down a break before rallying to reach 6-5 and force a tiebreak. After losing her serve to make it 6-6, she controlled the decisive tiebreak early, building a 6-0 lead. Jacquemot mounted a comeback, winning five consecutive points to threaten the match, but Andreescu closed out the tiebreak on her sixth match point to secure the win.
Andreescu will face Yuan Yue in the second round.
