Gabriela Dabrowski of Ottawa competed in two doubles finals at Roland Garros 2026, but left Paris without a title after falling short in both the mixed and women's draws. The Canadian's fortnight included a mixed doubles final loss and a women's doubles semifinal exit within 24 hours.
Mixed doubles final loss to defending champions
Dabrowski and American partner Evan King lost the mixed doubles final 4-6, 6-3, 10-4 to Italy's top-seeded Sara Errani and Andrea Vavassori on Thursday. According to CHAT News Today, Errani and Vavassori successfully defended their Roland Garros mixed doubles title, becoming the first team since 2019 to do so, and captured their fourth Grand Slam mixed doubles championship together. King faced Errani and Vavassori in the final for a second consecutive year, having been runner-up in 2025 alongside Taylor Townsend, according to reporting from CKPG Today.
Dabrowski was seeking her third Grand Slam mixed doubles title. She had previously won the 2017 French Open with India's Rohan Bopanna and the 2018 Australian Open with Croatia's Mate Pavic, though she reached the French Open mixed final twice more without winning, in 2018 and 2019.
Women's doubles semifinal defeat
Dabrowski and Brazilian partner Luisa Stefani fell 6-0, 6-1 to the world No. 1 team of Czechia's Katerina Siniakova and American Taylor Townsend in the women's doubles semifinals on Friday, according to Sportsnet.ca. The loss was particularly difficult given that Stefani fell ill Thursday night and did not feel at her best heading into the match.
Despite the loss, Dabrowski will climb from No. 6 to No. 3 in the WTA individual doubles rankings. She and Stefani won the WTA 500 event in Strasbourg the week before the French Open, and Dabrowski will depart Roland Garros with nearly 105,500 euros (C$170,000) in combined prize money from both tournaments, according to Sportsnet.ca.
Dabrowski has never reached a women's doubles final at Roland Garros. She and Stefani had previously defeated Siniakova and Townsend to win the 2025 U.S. Open women's doubles title.
