Shapovalov dominates in Chengdu quarterfinal berth
Denis Shapovalov advanced to the ATP 250 quarterfinals in Chengdu with a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Czech player Vit Kopriva in 65 minutes, per RDS. The Ontario-born player won 92 per cent of points when his first serve landed, demonstrating the kind of serving performance he cited as central to his success. Shapovalov committed five double faults but conceded only one break point throughout the match.
Shapovalov next faces France's Adrian Mannarino, ranked No. 78, in the quarterfinals. The Canadian holds a 3-1 record against Mannarino in their head-to-head meetings.
