Québec's Alexis Galarneau will not compete in the US Open main draw after falling to Dalibor Svrcina 7-6(3), 6-2 in the second round of qualifying on Wednesday. The 27-year-old Canadian has now failed to reach a Grand Slam main draw in 2026, eliminated in qualifying at every major tournament.
How the match unfolded
Galarneau began poorly, trailing 4-1 before recovering to win four straight games and force a tiebreak in the opening set. Svrcina prevailed in the tiebreak to take the first set, then broke Galarneau three times in the second set to close out the match.
Andreescu still in contention
Bianca Andreescu remains alive in US Open qualifying and continues to pursue a main-draw berth, according to RDS.
