The Mouratoglou Tennis Center at Horseshoe Bay Resort has announced its coaching leadership team, with Israel Castillo serving as Director of Racquet Sports and Rhea Verma as Head Tennis Professional. Castillo brings over 30 years of teaching experience and 15 years as a director at leading resorts and clubs, overseeing all tennis and pickleball programming at the facility. Verma, originally from Canada, was ranked Top 5 nationally in juniors and won the Canada Games before pursuing a professional career.
Who is Rhea Verma?
Rhea Verma has been playing tennis for over 21 years and competed at the highest amateur levels in Canada and the United States. She was ranked Top 5 nationally in Canadian juniors, captured six ITF titles, and achieved a career-high ITF junior ranking of No. 185 in the world. After competing professionally on the ITF Tour, she played Division I tennis at the University of Louisville, where she reached a national doubles ranking of No. 16.
What will the coaching team do?
Verma works with players of all ages and skill levels, from beginners learning fundamentals to high-performance juniors and advanced adult competitors. Castillo oversees the resort's entire racquet sports program, which includes adult team development and junior training alongside pickleball instruction. The team's goal is to help players improve their game while building confidence and enjoyment of the sport.
