Wimbledon champion Linda Noskova advanced to the US Open third round with a straight-sets victory over Thailand's Lanlana Tararudee, 6-4, 6-2, on Louis Armstrong Stadium on Wednesday night. The win extended Noskova's Grand Slam winning streak to nine consecutive matches, according to the Women's Tennis Association, making her the first player to reach that milestone in 2026.
How Noskova dominated the match
Noskova earned the opening set's only break in the seventh game and quickly established control in the second set with an early double-break lead. She finished the match in one hour and 18 minutes, hitting 25 winners against 20 unforced errors. Tararudee, ranked No. 76, managed 14 winners but committed 15 unforced errors in the loss.
What the streak means for her season
The Czech player has won 11 Grand Slam main-draw matches in 2026, surpassing her previous calendar-year best of six wins in 2024. Beyond the majors, Noskova has compiled a 16-3 record in her last 19 matches since the grass-court season began. Her third-round appearance equals her best US Open result, which she achieved the previous year.
Noskova's serve dominance at the majors
Noskova has struck 88 aces across Grand Slam matches this season, including seven against Tararudee, moving her ahead of Naomi Osaka's 85 aces for the most at the 2026 Grand Slams. She has also won 16 of 19 matches against players ranked outside the top 50 on the WTA Tour this season, with her most recent loss to such an opponent coming against No. 70 Caty McNally in Toronto.
The third round is scheduled next.
