Wheelchair tennis player Thomas Venos has received the Sport BC Award for Male Athlete with a Disability at the 2026 Sport BC Athlete of the Year Awards, Tennis BC reported. The honour recognizes his achievements over the past year as one of Canada's leading wheelchair tennis competitors.
In 2025, Venos captured three ITF titles—one in singles and two in doubles—and won the inaugural National Bank Open wheelchair event. According to Tennis BC, he opened his 2026 ITF Tour season in Rome, Georgia, after posting a 3–1 singles record at the BNP Paribas World Team Cup Americas Qualification, where he represented Canada in team competition.
Venos was unable to attend the Sport BC Banquet in person as he was competing internationally. His parents, Rosemary and Jeff Venos, accepted the award on his behalf.
